Return: does your message pay back?
The fourth lens measures payback, demand, and loyalty. Free scans read public signals. Connect your analytics and it scores your real numbers.

The last question is the one that matters most: after all the publishing, does the message turn into customers who come, pay, and come back? That's Return, and it's scored on every scan, free included.
Return is payback-first by design. Public visibility counts, but real customers, closed deals, and repeat business count more.
The six dimensions
- Commercial return. Do you actually turn into paying customers, closed deals, and revenue?
- Repeat loyalty. Do customers come back and stay?
- Branded demand. Do people seek you out by name? That's pull, not push.
- Retention surface. Do you have the machinery of return: a login, a community, a newsletter, an app?
- Advocacy. Do others recommend you unprompted, in testimonials, threads, and word of mouth?
- Payback match. When people say why they stay or buy, does the reason echo your message, or has it drifted?
Two ways Return gets scored
On a free scan (the proxy), we read public demand and loyalty signals: whether branded searches surface your own destinations, what reviewers and communities say, what loyalty machinery is visible on your site. It's honest but directional, and it will never invent a traffic or revenue figure. Where the evidence is thin, the score says so.
Connected (on Pro), you wire in your own Google Analytics, Search Console, and HubSpot, and Return stops estimating. Commercial return scores your real customers and closed-won deals. Repeat loyalty uses your actual returning-visitor rate. Branded demand reads your real branded search clicks. The dashboard marks it with a Real data pill, and every figure is attributed to its source. Same lens, sharper glass.
One rule keeps it honest: connected data only applies when you scan your own brand's domain, the one you connected. Scanning any other site stays on public signals, so nobody's numbers ever sharpen someone else's score.
What moves the score
- Build a retention surface. A newsletter or community is the cheapest loyalty machinery there is, and its absence is one of the most common gaps we see.
- Make advocacy visible. Real testimonials with real names, and reasons-to-stay in your customers' own words.
- Connect your data. Not to flatter the score (connected scores are often lower and more honest), but to make it real enough to act on. Start here.
