Your SEO grader can't see the thing that's actually broken
Graders tell you if machines can find you. They say nothing about whether the message that comes back is worth hearing. That gap is where brands quietly bleed.

Here's the thing about SEO graders and the newer AEO checkers: they're not wrong. They're just answering a question that isn't the one keeping you up at night.
Run your site through one and you get a checklist back. Meta tags. Schema. Page speed. Crawlability. Maybe a keyword gap or two. All real, all worth fixing. And all completely silent on the question that actually decides whether any of it matters: when the market hears your brand, what does it say back?
Findability is not the same as being worth finding
A grader asks one question: can a machine find, read, and rank this page? Good question. But a site can pass every single technical check and still fail as a brand.
I've seen it over and over:
- Pages that are perfectly optimized and each tell a slightly different story. Technically clean, quietly inconsistent.
- Content that ranks and bores, answering no real question a buyer actually has.
- Great visibility, and the market describing you as "kind of like the other tools."
A grader can't see any of that, because a grader reads structure. It doesn't read meaning. It doesn't ask whether your message is true across your own pages, whether it's any good, whether it travels off your site intact, or whether it pays you back. Those four questions are the whole ballgame, and they're exactly what a technical audit can't touch.
Somebody said it better than I could
One of the folks who tried Brand Echo early put it this way:
"The name 'Brand Echo' is brilliant. It makes everything feel more human, and the initial insights are very easy to grasp. It's clearly different from the standard AEO or SEO graders. It gives real context for actual message strategy, which I haven't seen before."
That's Todd Ochsner, founder of Denscty. And the phrase I keep coming back to is "real context for actual message strategy." That's the gap. Graders give you a mechanic's report. They don't tell you if the thing you're saying is landing.
Use both. I mean it.
I'm not here to tell you to skip your technical SEO. Fix your crawl errors. They're real, and a broken site helps nobody. But understand what a grader is: it tells you whether the pipes work. It says nothing about whether what's flowing through them is worth hearing.
And in a year where more searches end without a click than with one, the brands that win aren't the ones with the cleanest schema. They're the ones whose message comes back true, good, and human. That's a different measurement, and it's the one we built. If you want the full breakdown of how we're different from the graders, I laid it out here.
